Heifer India, AIC-SKU Join Hands to Foster Women Entrepreneurs
The partnership between the two organizations will help to nurture backyard poultry and agriculture-based livelihood ventures for rural women and smallholder farmers. The AIC-SKU will help the community members design and implement women-centric incubation programs.
The center will provide easy and affordable access to cold chain-maintained quality vaccines and provide capacity-building skill training to local service providers like Community Agrovet Entrepreneurs (CAVEs), vaccinators, and para-veterinarians. In addition, the focus would also be on developing innovative feed formulations and their marketing, while enabling access to finance through linkages with financial institutions and government welfare schemes.
The AIC-SKU will offer a wide range of services to Heifer-supported communities such as business plan writing, IPR & technology transfer, mentoring, linkages with start-up communities, financial assistance, and training. The center will also foster entrepreneurship among the Heifer-supported Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and smallholder farmers.
In the initial phase, AIC-SKU will provide training to interested smallholder women farmers within the #HHAI ( Hatching Hope Accelerating Incomes) project sites who want to enter the food processing Mango and banana fruit value chain and backyard poultry by-products.
