Season to propagate Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) to Augment the Income of Smallholder Farmers of India.

Since the growing need for nutritious food, the concern of pests and pesticides, and the pyramid of inflation. Increasing demand, production challenges, and the harm of pesticides. Technology supporting agriculture, experiments of increasing the yield, and reducing pesticides are still a dream. Working towards ending hunger, and poverty is noble but the end to these keywords is not visible.

Ever since the Agri technology experiments started, The agricultural lands have become heaven’s paradise. The land prices are beyond imagination and yet the farmers are poor. Every employee wishes to have their own agricultural land, grow his own food, and create his own clean, green oxygen hub and a status symbol of the farmhouse. The concepts of thematic agriculture, weekend agriculture, farmland culture, corporate culture farming, thematic culture agriculture tours, organic tours, oxygen tours, and Agri Circular Economies are shaping up as a business in the 21st century.

In the midst of these changes, Organic / Natural/ Pesticide free / Millet, and so on are the key premium products listed in the market. People buy anything which is called “ Good For Health” at a premium without even knowing the genuineness of the product, without traceability.

The other side of the coin is that the farmers used to produce fruits, vegetables, and food grains. The excess food was sold in the market. The regular farmer’s food was millet, fresh fruits, and vegetables which kept them strong and lifelong.

The increasing demand for Food, Natural Disasters, Climate Change, unknown Pests, and Pesticides put the farmer in trouble. The thought to protect the crop from hungry insects turned to be poison for insects and for humans. So change is needed in agriculture. The red carpet for Food Crisis is on the fingertips counting the months All these events, concerns are opening new doors for people to have the concept own food.

To save the producer, and to bring change institutions are promoting Kitchen Garden under Climate Smart Agriculture.

As the story evolves, I would like to share a few recent changes which we brought into the lives of 9k smallholder farmers lives through the HHAI project, under my leadership.

Heifer International, India, under its Hatching Hope Accelerating Income (HHAI) Initiative, is trying to introduce climate-smart agriculture (CSA) solutions to sustainably increase agricultural productivity, and farmers’ incomes, and adapt to climate change. In collaboration with Heifer International and Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board, we initiated this marathon.
